Ville Kokkonen approaches design as an investigation into materials & processes and inventiveness driven by scientific discovery. As an industrial designer, his reach is broad, covering a project portfolio that is probing advanced technologies, craft tradition and skills, as well as potential projections towards future living conditions.
Since starting his own practice in 2004, Kokkonen has worked with leading companies in the field of design and technology with clients such as Nokia, Iittala, Exel Composites, Ensto and UPM. Between 2005 to 2014 Kokkonen worked with Artek, first running its R&D program and from 2008 onwards as design director of the company. Ville Kokkonen has lectured internationally in various academic institutions and currently holds the position of Professor of Practice at Aalto University, School of Arts Design and Architecture.
Harri Koskinen's design work has gained him international renown since the early days of his career. He believes in good dialog and true companionship with his clients and for this reason his company is named as Friends of Industry. Koskinen shares his knowledge as an advisor, consultant and he also worked as a Design director of Iittala brand 2012-2016. Several museums does have Koskinen's designs in their collection.
Harri Koskinen has been awarded major design prizes and his clients include Alessi, Artek, Design House Stockholm, Genelec, Iittala, Issey Miyake, Marimekko, MUJI, Nikari, Panasonic, Venini and Woodnotes among many others.
